The USA and Donald Trump

A Summer of Complicated Connections

Obviously we are going through a very challenging time in the USA. There are many issues that need to be addressed, but it is difficult to come together and solve our problems due to the intense feelings, continuing anger and polarization. No matter what “side” we are on, we tend to focus on the ideas and information that confirm the views we already have and quickly dismiss those that do not. This conflict is distressing and frustrating, but it can ultimately bring us new awareness and growth. This energy is part of our path right now and would occur in some shape or form no matter who is president. There are important issues we need to deal with now and we will be forced to do so one way or the other.

The connections in the birth chart of a president to a country’s birth chart shows how they will interact and affect each other. It is a relationship and it will go through ups and downs like any relationship. Transits are the ongoing movements of the planets in the heavens. The patterns the moving planets form with the planets and important points in a birth chart show the types of energies that will be experienced and how long it will last. Kind of like a cosmic weather report.

There are several transiting astrological patterns that affect both the USA’s chart and Donald Trump’s chart this summer, but I am going to focus on two. Both will strongly affect President Trump and The USA at the same time.

Transiting Saturn

Transiting Saturn brings lessons, tests, responsibilities, obligations, restrictions, laws and hard work. It requires focus, patience and maturity. It is often felt as a heavy energy that doesn’t let us get away with anything. Saturn is like a very strict teacher who is now presenting us with our report card. Time to face the music. Our past choices will be glaringly obvious, both good and bad. We will be faced with the results of our past actions. (Saturn is also the planet associated with karma.)

This transit of Saturn described below was previously very strong from December 21, 2016 to January 24, 2017. It is back this summer to complete its process. June 23 to Mid-October will be an especially intense period. During this time we will be forced to face reality head on. Here is what is happening.

Transiting Saturn in Sagittarius will:

# Conjunct Donald Trump’s Moon (emotions, sensitivity, family) at 21° Sagittarius,

# Oppose Donald Trump’s Sun (ego, vitality, ambition) at 23 Gemini.

This indicates a very challenging time that can be emotionally and physically tiring for him.

At the same time, transiting Saturn in Sagittarius will:

# Oppose the USA’s Mars (energy, assertion, conflict) at 21° Gemini

# Square the USA’s Neptune (ideals, illusions, doubt) at 22° Virgo.

This indicates a frustrating, uncertain and confusing time for the USA.

In addition, because Trump’s Sun in Gemini is conjunct the USA’s Mars in Gemini and both are opposed by transiting Saturn, it could be a time of conflicts, limitations, heavy responsibilities or possible military actions.

Saturn energies require hard work, added responsibilities, discipline and patience. Even though it is likely to be a very challenging time, what we learn and the inner growth that occurs when Saturn comes calling is precisely what gives us strength, experience and wisdom. If we handle it well, it can provide us with inner stability and a new level of maturity.

Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017

There will be a lunar eclipse/full moon on August 7 and a solar eclipse/new moon on August 21. Astrologically, a solar eclipse is stronger than a lunar eclipse. The solar eclipse is the one I will focus upon in this section. Eclipses mark a shift when one set of circumstances ends and another begins. These new circumstances will develop over the following 3 to 6 months. An eclipse can sometimes be felt three months or more before it occurs. So it’s possible we are already experiencing the shifts associated with these eclipses. Either way, changes are coming over the next 3 to 6 months.

Eclipses are not unusual. They occur about every six months somewhere on earth. However, it is unusual to have the total solar eclipse path pass directly over the USA from coast to coast. This total solar eclipse will be the first since 1918 to cross the USA from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The area on Earth where the eclipse shadow falls is believed to be affected strongly and may experience the big changes over the next 3 to 6 months. That, by itself makes it significant for the US.

Individual and entities will be especially affected if they have planets, the ascendant or Midheaven within 3 degrees of a conjunction, opposition or square to the eclipse degree. These individuals and entities will go through a shift in circumstances over the following 3 to 6 months. For example…..

The solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 is at 28° 53’ Leo, which is:

# Conjunct Donald Trump’s Ascendant (outer personality, health, disposition) at 29° 59’ Leo.

# Conjunct Donald Trump’s Mars (energy, initiative, inner warrior) at 26° 47’ Leo.

# Opposite the USA’s Moon (the people, security, women, families) at 27° 10’ Aquarius (July 4, 1776, Sibley chart).

This solar eclipse also has quite a few positive energies around it that indicate innovative ideas and new exciting discoveries could occur. That means the changes could ultimately be positive, depending what actions and choices are made.

It does indicate there will be a shift in circumstances in both Trump’s life and in the USA by the end of 2017. It is hard to predict what form that may take. Perhaps it will take a while to see clearly what is shifting. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

There is so much that can be said about all the planetary aspects this summer, but it is way too much information to try to explain in this newsletter. There is some additional explanation in the forecast below. In a nutshell, it is going to be a challenging time, but it will ultimately bring us maturity and wisdom and a new direction. How it will manifest is hard to say, but it will manifest in some way. Individually we can help by maintaining calmness and balance. Know that this is our path at this time and even though it may not be clear, everything will work out. It will be very helpful to keep an open mind and to practice kindness and respect for others, no matter what they believe.

Forecast for June, July and August 2017

JUNE 1 to 4

June 1 will be a good day to think about what we love and value the most in our lives and to recognize and appreciate the importance of what we may take for granted. A tendency for worry, criticism or rushing around could occur during the day on June 2, but by evening we may be very excited about new possibilities. Social occasions could hold surprises that evening. The energies on June 3 are quite optimistic and expansive. However, by June 4 we may be wondering what is really going on when the theme of “truthiness” versus reality will be strong, especially early in the day. The evening of June 4 could bring surprises and changes.

JUNE 5 to 11

On June 5-6 something we learn through the news or communication with others could cause a commotion or a shift in direction. It will be best not to make important decisions at this time or repeat this information as fact to others yet, as situations are likely to be unclear or overblown. By the late afternoon/evening of June 6, more objective and fact based information should become available.

On June 7 – 9 reality comes knocking on the door, and whether we let it in is up to us. During this three day period, we will feel the energies building as we approach the full moon. The FULL MOON occurs on June 9 in truth-seeking Sagittarius at 7:10 am, MDT. Information may be revealed or we may have an inner realization that is transformative. Some of us may become obsessed with the news or try to force our ideas on others. If that happens to you, slow down, breathe, count to ten and recognize you may be getting carried away. Back up a bit and get a new perspective. The ruler of the Sagittarius Full Moon, Jupiter, has been retrograde in Libra (balance and justice) since February 5. On the day of the June 9 Full Moon Jupiter goes Direct, which makes it very strong. The urge for truth and justice will be powerful and will unfold over the next four months. It will not be all smooth sailing. Many challenges along the way will occur.

The good news is that Jupiter going Direct will also have a positive affect us in our personal lives. Improvements we have wanted to make in our lives since the beginning of February will slowly begin to move forward at this time. The urge for improvement will continue through the summer and will be completed by early October. June 7 -9  will be a good time to revisit our ideas on how to improve and expand our lives and to think about what actions we can take to do so over the next four months.

The Moon moves into practical and managerial Capricorn on June 10-11. This will be a good time to be grounded, organized and responsible. We will be the most effective if we stay focused on the present moment.

JUNE 12 to 18

This could be a week of power struggles, arguments, conflicts and upsets in the outer world. It is likely to be hard to discern what is really going on. Neptune is basically standing still all week and getting ready to go retrograde on June 16. The whole week will be affected by Neptune’s mystical, cloudy, illusionary and idealistic energies. Things may not be what they seem. Information could be cloudy, confusing or misleading. The Sun and Mercury both oppose Saturn this week which brings a feeling of heaviness and limitations. In general, it could be a murky and discouraging week out in the world. However, there will be a few bright and hopeful energies, too.

It doesn’t have to be that challenging in our individual lives if we understand the nature of the energies and how to deal with them. Even if you personally are feeling fine, other people may be feeling more assertive, impatient and irritable than usual. So this is probably not a good week to ask your boss for a raise, open a new business or be a driving instructor. Don’t believe everything you hear. Slow down and be aware of your surroundings.

June 12 could be a contentious day. People may be quick to get in a fight. Some positive energies are available on June 13, but also a tendency to be impatient and go overboard. Ideas and information may sound good, but don’t act on them yet because they could turn out to be over-optimistic, impractical or possibly misleading. You don’t have to totally disregard ideas, just wait until you have all the facts.

Even though there are still challenging energies on June 14, the Moon in Aquarius will help calm things down by bringing objectivity, reason and a humanitarian outlook. The best times are in the morning and afternoon. Resistance, limitations or restrictions are likely to arise in the evening. On June 15 the resistance that started the previous evening stays in effect during the daytime, but by late afternoon and evening it will weaken. The energies are positive for social activities in the evening. This could be a good time to get together with friends and loved ones.

Neptune goes retrograde on June 16 which could give the day a surreal quality. This is not a good time to make important decisions or sign up for anything. It is a good time to get a massage, sleep in, take a nature walk or take the day off. Of course, we can’t all take the day off, so just enjoy the day and don’t try to make something happen. Let things be and see what turns up. June 17 will be much like June 16, but a little more energetic by the afternoon.

June 18 is likely to be a more dynamic day with the urge to make some innovative changes which could meet with resistance. If this happens to you, you might find it interesting to ask yourself, “What’s really holding me back – someone else or my own limited thinking?”

JUNE 19 to 25

June 19 -20 would be good days to attend to practical matters, build something, garden, or enjoy nature. It will also be a good time for social activities. The Summer Solstice is on June 20 at 10:24 pm MDT. This would be a fun time to have a Summer Solstice feast. Even if we don’t have a party to attend, we can enjoy the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. We can appreciate the Sun for being the energy source at the center that holds us in orbit and provides us with life sustaining light and heat. Say thank you to our very own star.

The daytime hours of June 21 will be a good time to attend to everyday matters. Later in the day we may feel a little restless and want some mental stimulation or interaction with others. Do something to activate your brain cells. On June 22 we may hear about something that sounds intriguing. It may not be what we think it is. This could also be a very creative and imaginative day.

The NEW MOON, in sensitive Cancer, occurs on June 23 at 8:31 pm. Something is beginning now that will have major repercussions in the future. We will feel the energies of this new Moon on June 23-25. We may not be seeing things clearly. Pay attention to what is beginning out in the world at this time. It is likely to be important later. In our personal lives, our sense of security, family and belonging will be activated. Over the next month each of us may find ourselves thinking about what security, family and belonging means to us. The energy of this New Moon is active and intense. This will not be a quiet summer.

On June 25 we are likely to be more compassionate and have a desire to take action to help others. There could also be some things going on that might sound good, but may not what they seem. We could be over-idealizing or acting without getting the facts. Avoid going overboard. We need to wait for clarification before taking action.

JUNE 26 to JULY 9

I am putting these two weeks together because they contain an ongoing energy pattern.

June 26 would be a good day to have some fun, socialize or do something creative. We need a break. Take some time out to play!

June 27- mid-October: Okay playtime’s over. Hope you had fun because it’s time for the next leg of our journey and it’s a doozy.

On June 27-July 9 Information or events may shake things up considerably in the outer world during this period and a big battle of words and ideas may begin. Major power struggles are very likely. This could be a time of anger and emotion. Aggressive actions may be taken in the heat of the moment.

In the USA, we will be approaching our “birthday” on July 4 and celebrations will start over the weekend of July 1-2. This will be a time of heightened emotions and increased patriotism. Whatever is going on, it could be something that is deeply affecting the USA. There could also be challenges to technology, transportation, the economy and commerce. (Mercury in Cancer will square Jupiter in Libra, conjunct Mars in Cancer and oppose Pluto in Capricorn. Mars will oppose Pluto).

It’s really impossible to predict how these energies will manifest. It may not be as strong as the above description indicates, but there will be some kind of impact. It’s important to remember that this confluence of energy is part of our path right now and we will get through this. Staying calm and reasonable will help to balance whatever is taking place.

What we see out in the world is very likely to be way more extreme than what we experience in our personal lives. Individually, this energy could help us recognize where we need to restructure our lives in order to adapt to changing circumstances. If we pay attention to what we are thinking and experiencing June 27 to July 9, we should have some definite clues about changes that may be coming up for us personally over the next three months.

On July 3 the Moon in Scorpio provides us with intensity and deeper insights. We may realize something or discover hidden information that provides us with some answers. Joint efforts can be productive. On July 4-6 we will have a tendency to selectively focus on information that bolsters what we already believe. This may exacerbate the polarization out in the world. Our feelings could be stirred up and we will want to do something about it. We should certainly honor our feelings, but if possible, avoid making important decisions or taking major actions at this time. It will be easy to go overboard based on unclear information, strong emotions and impatience. Positive energies early in the day on July 7 can help smooth communications and will help us find ways to share feelings and information with others.

The FULL MOON in Capricorn occurs on July 8, 10:07 pm, MDT (July 9, 12:07 am, EDT). This will be a very powerful Full Moon and will be the dominant energy all weekend. This Full Moon has intense transformative energies and indicates tremendous power struggles. (Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn; Moon and Pluto opposite Sun and Mars in Cancer; and Moon and Pluto square Jupiter in Libra)

Something may be revealed that changes everything. Once revealed, the genie cannot be put back in the bottle.

JULY 10 to 16

On July 10 to 11 an objective and reasonable attitude will bring successful results. This will be a favorable time for friendship and group gatherings. On July 12-13 compassion and empathy are strong, but so are emotions. Once again the polarity bell rings and we retreat to our corners. Individually, we may feel a strong desire to shake things up and do something positive to improve our lives. On July 14 positive communications are possible if we are willing to listen and make some adjustments in our ideas. July 15 is favorable time for initiative and action as long as we respect the needs of others. Get up and move. This is not a day to be a couch potato.

July 16 may bring us too much emotional stimulation that could result in impulsiveness, moodiness, and over-assertiveness. Probably not the best day for group activities or a family get together. Avoid pushing yourself or others. Slow down, drive carefully.

JULY 17 to 23

On July 17 unrealistic expectations could lead to disappointment, which then could turn into irritation and impulsiveness. On the positive side, this can help us be more realistic about others and see the need for changes that will bring more freedom and vitality in our lives. July 18 will be a good day for relationships of all kinds. Lighthearted and pleasant energies make social gatherings lots of fun. July 19 is a favorable day for practical matters, making plans and getting things accomplished. July 20 can be exciting and fast paced, maybe a little too much. Surprises and changes are likely. Stay flexible as a disruption in plans is possible. Some will feel impatient and pushy. Drive carefully.

On July 21-22 we may feel a little more emotional and sentimental than usual. This is a good time to focus on home, family, nurturing others and yourself. Add some new feathers to your nest. The NEW MOON in LEO occurs on July 23 at 3:46 am, MDT. The energies of this  New Moon are confident and assertive indicating a project will start with a great deal of enthusiasm, a desire to make things happen and to do it in a big way. (Sun and Moon in Leo conjunct Mars in Leo)

We are likely to see major power struggles in the world gain in strength and intensity from now through mid-August.

JULY 24 to 31

July 24 could start out in a disappointing way, but there could a surprising or shocking shift in circumstances as the day goes by which brings a more positive outlook. We could end up feeling much differently by that evening than we did in the morning. July 25-26 the focus is on action and “getting down to business”. July 27-29 will be a favorable time to interact with others in order to accomplish our goals, but there will be a tendency for control issues to arise. Success comes through focusing on the highest and best for all and avoiding getting wrapped up in our individual egos at this time. Feelings are deep, passions are strong and we may feel more secretive or private than usual on July 30-31.

The entire month of August may be a time of instability in the world. There are several reasons:

  1. Uranus Turns Retrograde

Uranus, the planet of change, shock, shake-up and wake up has been standing still (from our perspective on Earth) since July 27 as it prepares to go retrograde for the rest of the year on August 2. Because it is barely moving, its energies of change and shock are heavier and more concentrated which gives it extra strength. It will continue to be in this holding pattern until August 9. That means July 27 to August 9 could bring some unexpected changes or upsets.

  1. Uranus Semisquare Neptune

This is a challenging planetary pattern that started in June 2016, but will be exact for the first time on August 11, 2017 and will be felt strongly through October 2017.

The following is information about this planetary pattern from a seminar I gave in October 2016:

Decisions and a New Vision for the Future: Uranus semisquare Neptune, June 2016 to April 2121

The Uranus/Neptune energy pattern reflects our beliefs about the times in which we live and the possibilities that lie ahead of us. We will make decisions from 2016 to 2021 that will mark a shift in our collective vision of the future.

This aspect started gaining strength in mid-July 2017 and will reach a peak when it is exact on August 11, 2017 and will continue to be strong influence through October 2017.

The Uranus/Neptune Cycle is a 172 year cycle. The current cycle started to come in around 1985, was exact in 1993, and continued to 2001. During that time the Internet/”world wide web” and technology took over our imagination and attention. Uranus is associated with electrical energy and Neptune is associated with magnetic energy. Together they produce electromagnetic energy which is used to communicate wirelessly over great distances.

Our communication abilities have been dramatically enhanced and are now part of the fabric of everyday life. We are connected globally via technology: computers, iPads, cell phones, GPS, security systems, social media, etc. We are currently experiencing a reality check as we realize that all these handy dandy gadgets come with very serious and unpleasant consequences- identity theft, privacy invasion, inattention and accidents while texting/talking, cyber bullying – and hacking of electronic information and systems. This not only happens to individuals, but to governments, the military, banks, businesses, power plants, etc.

  1. Jupiter Square Pluto

Jupiter in Libra will exactly square Pluto in Capricorn on August 4. This is the last square in a series of three. The last square began around July 20 and has been increasing in strength. It will be quite strong through August 17. This is likely to be a time when there will be a last big push by some to gain power. Jupiter square Pluto is a classic power struggle aspect and was discussed in the last newsletter. Here’s a reprint:

This is an energy that expands ambition and the desire for power. This desire may spur some to achieve their goals through force, coercion or misinformation. Efforts, both overt and covert, to attain power in the world are likely. Unscrupulous or underhanded tactics may be used, but ultimately are likely to backfire.

The Jupiter/Pluto square can be used positively if we can avoid letting our egos take over. The urge to make big improvements is strong. We can use this energy to make strides in reorganizing and rebuilding our lives. Some may become involved in community, business or government projects that focus on reform and restructuring. It is also very important that proposed reforms are meaningful and for the highest and best good of all, and not just for self-aggrandizement.

  1. Mercury Goes Retrograde and Stirs Up Radical Restructuring Energies

Since Mercury goes retrograde about every three months, the retrograde itself is not a big deal. However, Mercury will oppose the midpoint of Uranus and Pluto three times as it follows its retrograde path and that is important. The midpoint of two planets is a trigger point for their combined energies. Uranus and Pluto were in a challenging square formation from 2011 through 2015. When Uranus and Pluto come together their energies bring about a radical restructuring in the world. Even though the exact square is over, the two planets remain close enough to each other for that square to flare up if it is stimulated by other energies. Which is exactly what has been happening since October 2016 when Jupiter moved into Libra, where it squares Pluto and opposes Uranus. This influence will weaken on October 10, 2017, when Jupiter will leave Libra and move into Scorpio. Jupiter in Libra has been stirring up the Uranus Pluto radical restructuring energies since October 2016 and when Mercury opposes their midpoint, it is likely to trigger a release of their built-up energies.

Transiting Mercury will oppose the Uranus/Pluto midpoint three times: August 3, August 22 and September 16. Each time Mercury (communication, travel and commerce) opposes the Uranus/Pluto midpoint, their radical restructuring energies will be released and are likely to conflict with the energies of Mercury. This could cause travel, communication, commerce or technology disruptions. See more information about Mercury retrograde below under August 12.

  1.  Lunar Eclipse on August 7 and Total Solar Eclipse on August 21

Eclipses bring a change in circumstances. See section near the beginning of this forecast for more information: Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017

AUGUST 1 to 13

This two week period sets the tone for the month and may have a lot of ups and downs. The FULL MOON/LUNAR ECLIPSE occurs on August 7 at 15 ° Aquarius, 12:11 pm MDT. A lunar eclipse happens about every six months. It always occurs at the Full Moon. This increases the strength of the Full Moon and indicates a shift in circumstances regarding something we have already set in motion, possibly a few months before. This will now reach a culmination over the next three months. We may become aware of something that had been hidden. Emotions and intuition are heightened. Pay attention to dreams, hunches and intuition. We may also begin to feel the emotions of the eclipse a few weeks before it actually occurs.

There will be some positive pockets of energies from August 7 to 11. Mercury is getting ready to go retrograde which can be a time of changes and surprises. Stay focused on August 9 to 11.

On August 12 Mercury goes retrograde at 11-12° Virgo and will stay retrograde until September 5. Since Mercury rules Virgo, this retrograde period will have more strength than usual, plus it will oppose the Uranus/Pluto midpoint three times. (See # 4, Mercury goes retrograde…  above). As always during Mercury retrograde periods, be aware that people in general could have a tendency to be mentally distracted. This can lead to overlooking details and cause communication or transportation problems. Unexpected mechanical or technological problems may occur. Double check all travel arrangements and make sure communications are clear to everyone concerned. This is especially true if you are a Virgo or a Gemini. See explanation of Mercury Retrograde

August 13 can bring positive and stabilizing energies as the Sun trines Saturn. We may start to see some progress on balancing optimism with practicality. This will be reflected in the world and in our personal lives.

AUGUST 14 to 20

After a slightly bumpy start, the morning of August 14 can help reveal some deep feelings. These issues will be further explored on August 15 to 16. It is good to deal with feelings that may have been hidden and experience healing, but there could be a tendency to go overboard or to get caught up in emotional drama at this time. If that happens, step back and get clearer perspective. August 17-18 will be a good time to focus on home, family and security.

August 19-20 is likely to be a quite a positive time. There could be some tension the morning of August 19, but it will pass. Mars in Leo sextiles Jupiter in Libra, the Sun in Leo trines Uranus in Aries and the Moon is in Leo = enthusiasm, energy, excitement and fun! With the solar eclipse happening on August 21, there will be great anticipation and high energy as people gather together to experience, for many, a once in a lifetime event. The mood will be friendly and outgoing. Even if you won’t be viewing the solar eclipse, this would be a good weekend for social activities, fun and entertainment – wherever you may be.

AUGUST 21 to 27

Excitement about the solar eclipse on August 21 will be strong. This eclipse occurs for all of us at the point in our chart where 28-29° Leo is located. If you know your chart, see what house 28-29° Leo is in. Also look for planets, ascendant or midheaven at 26-29° Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio. (°0 of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius will also be affected) Those parts of your chart will be experiencing a change in circumstances over the next few months. You may already feel this happening, if not give it time to develop.

On August 22-23 we will start to get back to business as usual. However, with Mercury retrograde stirring up the radical restructuring energies, we have to deal with the surprising and unusual. (See #4 above) Relationships could feel like a rollercoaster ride on August 24. This could be exciting or just very scary. This could have something to do with events on August 14-16. (See above).

Saturn goes Direct on August 25. This week will mark a turning point in in the USA/Trump transiting Saturn connections discussed at the beginning of this newsletter. From August 25 to November 30 Saturn will focus its exacting and unrelenting energies on the issues that have been in the news since December 2016. There is an opportunity at this time to begin to settle differences in a more harmonious way. Real progress can be made, if we are willing to work together toward a common goal. Expansion and optimism will need to be combined with a realistic outlook and organization for long term success. Whether this opportunity will be taken remains to be seen.

August 26-27 have the potential to be very positive. If there is something in our personal lives we would like to do, this could be the time we start to believe that we can make our hopes and dreams a reality. Even if you don’t have a grand plan, do something to improve your life in a tangible way.

AUGUST 28 to 31

Slow down and avoid a slap-dash approach on August 28-29, as it will be easy to make mental errors. Travel may be challenging at this time. On August 30 the sun is opposite the Uranus/Pluto midpoint, so we may see some radical restructuring energies bouncing around in the world. However, the other energies are quite positive with a continuation of the potential of positive developments that started around August 26. August 31 will be a good day to get organized. We should be able to accomplish a lot today if we work at it.

Flowers Spring

Overview for March and April, 2017

The Heat is On!

We have been feeling the effects of two powerful astrological formations (Jupiter opposite Uranus and Jupiter square Pluto) since October 2016. These energies will stay with us in varying intensity until mid- October 2017. They will be at a peak in March and April 2017 and again in July, August and September 2017.

Since we are going to continue to experience these energies for the next eight months, it can be helpful to understand their nature and how to handle them effectively, both in the world and in our personal lives. It also can help us to be patient, knowing there is not a “quick fix” that is going to solve all our problems.

Both of these energies bring great challenges, which if handled successfully, can help us gain awareness, balance, strength and wisdom to make innovative changes in our lives. It won’t be easy, but it can be done.

These energies were discussed at length in the last newsletter, and are summarized below.

Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries

This energy is associated with sudden, shocking and surprising developments. It has a polarizing effect, causing many to feel they have to pick a side. Some may be spurred to rebel against the status quo. This can result in major movements for freedom from domination. Conflict between two sides can become very heated leading to disruption, upsets and volatility.

The positive potential is that these challenges can jump start social activism and stimulate awareness, growth and awakening in human consciousness. It can force us to deal with issues that need to be addressed. At some point, we may find a way to reach common ground and work with each other.

Exciting discoveries, breakthroughs and innovations in science, space and technology can also occur during this time which extend our horizons and expand our vision of the future. The Jupiter/Uranus opposition will be exact on March 2, 2017 and again on September 27, 2017.

Jupiter in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn

The Jupiter/Pluto square will be exact on March 30, 2017 and again on August 4, 2017.

March and April 2017

February 26-28: SOLAR ECLIPSE/NEW MOON at 8° PISCES, 7:58 am, MST.

Over the next three months a shift in direction and perception could occur that will have many twists and turns. The energies of Pisces are compassion, spirituality and creativity, but so much sensitivity can also be confusing or overwhelming. The eclipse is conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, making it even stronger. Neptune’s energy is compassionate and idealistic, with strong empathy and psychic sensitivities. This heightened sensitivity can sometimes bring the urge to escape what feels like a harsh reality. Find ways to stay grounded during the next three months. It will be beneficial to spend time in nature and to take good care of our physical bodies through nutritious food, physical activity and plenty of sleep. It will also be important to research information thoroughly, as there could be misleading or confusing information out in the world. This energy will be felt, not intellectualized. Pay attention to your feelings, intuition, dreams and creative urges. Let things flow naturally and see what happens.

Neptune rules water, the oceans, oil, gas, liquids, chemicals, drugs, poisons, glamour and propaganda. It is possible something important will occur out in the world relating to these things during the next three months.

The following birthdates could feel this eclipse strongly:

Pisces: February 24 to March 3

Virgo:  August 28 to September 5

Gemini: May 28 to June 2

Sagittarius: November 29 to December 4

If your birthday falls in the dates above, you may find the next three months to be a time of significant change. However, your new direction may not be clear at first. Give yourself time to sort things out and don’t jump to conclusions, as circumstances are likely to keep changing.

For all signs: If you have your birth chart, look for the House that contains 8 to 12 degrees of Pisces. Also look to see if your Ascendant, Midheaven or any planets are at 5 to 13 degrees of Pisces. These are the areas in your life that could be changing over the next three months. Our personal lives are not likely to be as eventful as world events. Many of the changes we experience will be inner and hard to define at first.

March 1-4

March 1 will be an active and fast paced day as the Moon in the fiery and assertive sign of Aries activates what is already a high intensity period. Compassion, emotion or confusion could also be strong as the Sun conjuncts Neptune. Jupiter will be exactly opposite Uranus at 6:19 pm, MST, on March 2. The Moon in Taurus can be a steadying influence on March 2-3.

March 4: Venus goes Retrograde

Whether we are male or female, the planet Venus, aka the goddess of love, is in charge of many things that are important in life: relationships, love, romance, money, possessions, values, social life, creative talents, enjoyment, beauty, balance and harmony. Venus will be retrograde March 4 to April 15. Over that six week period we may find ourselves asking, “What do I really want”?

While Venus is retrograde we will have the opportunity to reconsider and re-evaluate our relationships, money matters, love life, values and our basic enjoyment and satisfaction in life. For all of us, this is a time to consider what we value and honor in our lives and the lives of others. We will see this reflected in both in the world and in our personal lives.

Venus has been in assertive Aries since February 3. Venus in Aries is more of a warrior woman than a soft and cuddly companion. Venus will retrograde back to the caring and compassionate sign of Pisces from April 2 to 28.

This is a particularly strong Venus retrograde phase because Venus in Pisces will square Saturn in Sagittarius three times. A square is a challenging aspect that presents us with blockages, tests or restrictions. The general energies of Venus square Saturn may manifest as problems with others, feelings of sadness, disappointment or being unloved. We could have a tendency to be fearful or suspicious of others and prefer to be alone. We may view things as much worse than they really are. We may not notice this personally if it isn’t affecting our own birth chart, but we are likely to see it reflected in the world.

Venus square Saturn: possible manifestations in the outside world

The first time Venus squared Saturn occurred on January 27, 2017. There may have been other important issues occurring then, but there was one event that that got the most attention. This was the exact day Trump signed his Executive Order on “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” which caused a furor. This order was subsequently blocked by judges on Jan 28 and again on Feb 3. We have been told a new executive order is coming soon. We may be dealing with this issue again from April 7 to 23. During that period, Venus will be almost standing still as seems to slow down, stop and slowly starts moving forward again (goes direct) on April 15. Venus will exactly square Saturn for the 2nd time on April 8 and then the 3rd time on April 21. The entire period of April 8 to April 21 could be related to events that started around January 27, 2017. That means it could be connected in some way to the January 27 Executive Order. Even if this period doesn’t involve the immigration order, the themes that we will be focusing on from April 8 – 21 are likely to be connected to issues first raised around January 27.

Venus retrograde in your Personal Life

If you know your chart, find the House(s) that contain 26 degrees of Pisces to 13 degrees of Aries. This is the area of your life that you can make more loving and enjoyable. Also take note of any planets or the Ascendant or Midheaven at 24 – 29 of Pisces or Virgo and 0-15 degrees of Aries or Libra. These are the parts of you that can help you discover how to honor what you love and make your life more enjoyable. If you were born under the sign of Taurus or Libra, you are particularly tuned in to Venus retrograde because Venus is your ruling planet.

Even if you are currently rolling your eyes because you don’t have a clue what that last paragraph was all about, you can still use this energy. Just pay attention to times when you may be feeling dissatisfied because it feels like there is not enough love, enjoyment, money, creativity, fun or affection in your life. Also pay attention when you realize how much you enjoy something, have creative ideas and urges, feel love for others and feel loved by others. That is Venus whispering in your ear, telling you what’s important in your life.

March 5-9

In general this will be a good time to get things accomplished, reach agreements and have effective and pleasant communications. The energies may be a bit hectic on March 7 and people may be extra sensitive in the afternoon, but all is well by that evening.

March 10-13

During this period, our attention may turn to helping others, organizing our environment or improving our health. Our efforts are likely to be successful on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11. On Sunday, March 12, the FULL MOON at 22 Virgo, 8:54 am, MDT, brings emotions to the surface. Mercury in Pisces (communication and mental outlook tends to be sensitive and compassionate) will be in a challenging position (square) to Saturn in Sagittarius (tests and restrictions applied to what we feel is right and wrong.) We may have to face an unpleasant reality. In general, there could be a tendency to be overly critical, very serious or worried. Things are likely to seem worse than they really are. This would not be a good day for communication activities. If you want to get your message across in a positive way, wait for a better time. Mercury moves into the fiery sign of Aries on March 13 at 3:08 pm, MDT, and our general mental outlook switches from emotional and overwhelmed to energetic and confident. New ideas and the desire to actively pursue them are likely to start at this time. This assertive attitude will last through March 30 and then return from April 20 to May 15.

March 14-19

During this period the energies ramp up and bring surprises, changes and interactions with others. There could be a shake-up and wake-up on March 14-16. Challenges could arise on March 17 due to restrictions, low energy or problems with authority. That will be gone by the next day when Mercury teams up with Venus in Aries. Fiery and assertive energies will take over March 18-19. Definitely a warrior woman vibe. We may perceive something in our lives with a new perspective at this time.

March 20:

The Sun enters Aries and the Spring Equinox occur at 4:29 am on March 20. The sun will stay in Aries until April 18. The Sun’s influence will add focus and energy to the Aries attributes of action, courage, impatience, independence and daring. The Sun joins Mercury and Venus already in the sign of Aries (see “warrior woman” energies above) for the rest of March. This is not likely to be a quiet day.

March 21 to 25

A great deal of discussion (or heated conversation) could occur March 21-23. Power struggles are likely to be seen out in the world. Trying to agree on what we want our collective future to look like will be challenging, but at least we will realize it is a subject that needs to be addressed. In our personal lives, we can look at these same issues. What is our vision for the future? How do we want to live? What are our values?

March 24 will be a favorable day for reasonable and objective conversation as the Moon in Aquarius will make a series of positive aspects to Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus and Saturn. This would be a good time to bring people together to talk about the future. Openness to varying viewpoints could lead to inventive ideas and solutions. We can apply this energy in our individual lives also and get together with our friends and like-minded groups. Even if you spend the day alone, take some time to think about your own future with an open mind. On March 25 the soothing energies of the Moon in the water sign of Pisces can help us cool down all the fiery Aries energy around us. This will be good day for inner reflection and connecting to our spiritual side. We might find taking a leisurely bath or a long shower very refreshing.

March 26 to 29

There are some astrological energies during this four day period that suggest the potential exists for discussions to begin about ideas and projects for the future that are exciting, progressive and also very practical.

First, Mercury will conjunct Uranus in Aries on March 26. This energy is exciting, fast paced and possibly over-stimulating. It can manifest as surprising ideas or as rebellious, angry and irritable communications. Impatient actions can bring accident proneness. However, it also can be a time when we have a brilliant idea that seems to just pop into our head. If that happens, take note, but don’t act yet.

Second, on March 27 the NEW MOON at 8° Aries occurs at 8:57 pm, MDT. The New Moon is a time for a new start when our intentions set in motion energies that develop over the next four weeks. This new start has the potential to manifest as a war of words and/or new ideas that begin to capture people’s attention and lead to breakthroughs. Either way, this New Moon tells us there will be a lot of action and change coming. Even though there will be challenges, there will also be positive energies. The New Moon is conjunct Venus (retrograde in Aries), indicating this a time when we can focus on what we really love and value. This is important to know if we want to change our life.

Third, the ideas we had on March 26 that may have seemed too radical may start to look more plausible on March 29 when Mercury trines Saturn. At that time we could discover some realistic and practical ways to manifest our innovative ideas. We are still in the planning stages. These ideas/projects will be developed over the next six weeks and will reach fulfillment at the Full Moon on May 10. If you want to make changes in your life, you can start now by focusing on your dreams and ideas and opening yourself to imaginative ways to make things happen. You don’t have to figure it all out right now. Just start. You can let your ideas develop over the next several weeks.

March 30- 31

The Jupiter Pluto square, which represents the expansion of ambition and power is exact on March 30. Because this is such a long lasting influence, we may not notice it more than usual at this time, but it will be interesting to see what happens out in the world over this two day period. Pay attention to your own thoughts and actions. The Moon in Taurus conjuncts Mars and trines Pluto in Capricorn indicating  that practical down-to earth activities are most likely to succeed now.

April 1 -6

April 1 will be a favorable day for entertainment and social activities. April fools pranks that succeed are likely to be light hearted and humorous. Saturn is slowing down and getting ready to go retrograde on April 5. It will seem to stand still in the sky from April 1 to 10. Saturn represents responsibilities, work, organization and practical matters. It’s usually best to avoid starting new projects while Saturn is standing still, as projects we start at that time may not go as planned.

Venus retrograde leaves Aries on April 2 and goes back into Pisces where it will stay until April 27. The fiery Venus in Aries warrior woman energy can rest in the spiritual and compassionate waters of Pisces for the next 26 days.

April 6 is a good day when enthusiasm, innovation and practicality can come together successfully. This will be a favorable time for just about any endeavor. The Moon in Leo trines Uranus in Aries in the morning and trines Saturn in Sagittarius in the afternoon. You may find interactions with others to be inspiring. Pay attention to ideas and thoughts that occur during conversations. Sudden insights and inspiration could occur.

April 7 to 9

This is likely to be a very challenging three day period. If planning a weekend getaway, I certainly wouldn’t recommend this one. Here’s why:

On April 7 the Sun in Aries opposes Jupiter in Libra and on April 8 it squares Pluto in Capricorn. It could be easy to physically over do, to be overly extravagant or to promise more than you can deliver during this time. Even if we don’t experience this personally, we are likely to see conflicting energies expressed out in the world.

In addition, on April 8 Venus will square Saturn for the 2nd time. This could bring possible problems with others, feelings of sadness, disappointment or a tendency to be fearful or suspicious. We may feel like things are worse than they really are. This aspect will be in effect from April 8 -23. The reason it will last so long is because both Venus and Saturn are moving very slowly at this point. Venus will slow down, stop and turn direct on April 15. Saturn just went retrograde on April 5 and is also moving very slowly. This keeps them locked in a square formation from April 6 to 23. On April 21 Venus will square Saturn for the 3rd time. This period could be very intense and the themes of Venus square Saturn will be emphasized.

The 1st Venus/Saturn square occurred on January 27. As discussed earlier in this forecast, January 27 was the date when the Executive Order “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” was initiated. Even if that immigration order ends up being transcended by new executive order, there are likely to be connections to the same or similar issues out in the world during this time. (See above: March 4, Venus square Saturn possible manifestations in the outside world)

Another reason this will be a challenging weekend is because Mercury goes retrograde on April 9. Mercury Retrograde will be in Taurus and Aries from April 9 to May 3, 2017. This Mercury retrograde phase has some beneficial attributes, but often the days just before and after Mercury turns retrograde seem to concentrate the tendency for mix-ups. So April 7-11 could bring some communication or transportation challenges. During the course of this Mercury retrograde period we can reconsider our actions and realize how to use our energy in the more practical and effective ways. Mercury will conjunct Uranus and trine Saturn three times as it moves forward, backward and then forward again. This will offer us an opportunity to come up with and discuss ideas and projects that are innovative, exciting and new, but also practical and effective. These ideas may have first surfaced on March 25 to 29. It may take until May 20 to implement our changes.

April 10-15

Feelings are building on April 10 as we approach the FULL MOON at 22° Libra on April 11 at 12:08 am, MDT. This Full Moon will bring a lot of strong feelings to the surface. Our dreams could be more vivid and intense the night of April 10/11. The afternoon of April 11 and the day of April 12 could be a calm spot in the midst of a busy week. The Sun in Aries conjuncts Uranus on the evening of April 13. This brings the possibility of changes, rebellions or breakthroughs on April 13-14. On April 15 Venus will turn direct while still squaring Saturn. (See more information above on April 8.)

April 16 to 23

Although we must still deal with continuing Venus/Saturn issues this week, there are some positive energies on April 16-17 that could lift our spirits as Venus sextiles Mars and the Sun trines Saturn. This can provide us with some thoughtful and valuable insights. The third Venus/Saturn square will occur on April 21 and could linger through the afternoon of April 23. Venus/Saturn issues will be strong. (See April 8 for Venus square Saturn explanation) The compassionate and caring Moon in Pisces conjuncts Neptune on Earth day on April 22 bringing our attention to the importance of water in every form, keeping our environment safe from toxins, appreciating the beauty of nature and our deep connection to the earth.

April 24 to 30

April 24-25 will be enthusiastic and energetic days. Get outside, do something positive, have fun. On April 26 the NEW MOON/SuperMoon at 6° of Taurus occurs at 6:16 am, MDT, bringing our focus to down-to-earth concerns and practical matters, especially financial. April 26-27 will be a good time to pay attention the physical side of life. Working in the garden, getting outside or building something could be very satisfying. Of course, you must reward yourself with a yummy meal and a comfy chair afterwards.

Mercury retrograde conjuncts Uranus on April 28 early in the morning. This could be exciting, surprising, disruptive or very possibly all of the above. Keep your plans flexible and your communications clear. April 29 is likely to be exciting and interesting in the morning, but turns more serious that afternoon and evening, possibly to do to concerns in the world regarding health or environmental matters. Family and home activities should be enjoyable on April 30.

May 2017

Things should begin to settle down in May. A positive pattern forms as Saturn in Sagittarius trines Uranus in Aries on May 18 and is in effect the entire month. Hooray!

All Month: Saturn in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries

Time to update your life!

This planetary pattern is very positive and will provide us with enthusiastic, active and optimistic energies. This will be a good month to open your mind to new possibilities and give your life an update. Time to get rid of whatever isn’t working anymore. Consider something new and different. We are being given an opportunity to balance the old with the new. Now is the time to be courageous. Take the initiative and make some changes in your life in May. This influence can bring excitement, new discoveries and innovations into your life and out in the world. Changes can be made that are well thought out, practical and creative. To actualize the potential of this energy requires initiative on our part. Don’t sit back and let this opportunity go by. It will probably be easier than you think to make changes in your life at this time.

This is especially fortunate month for Aries born April 13 to 19, Leos Born Aug 15 to 21, and Sagittarians born Dec 15 to 21. If you have a birth chart, find the houses that contain 26 degrees of Sagittarius and 26 degrees of Aries. Those are the areas of your life where you can make some positive changes. This influence will also be helpful to planets, the Ascendant or Midheaven at 23 to 29 degrees of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius.

May 1 to 14

May 1 could be somewhat challenging as the Moon in Cancer squares the impulsive and assertive combination of Mercury and Uranus in Aries. Patience is needed. Some will be over-sensitive and thin-skinned today. Be especially careful to think before you speak as Mercury is still retrograde and it could be easy to have communication problems. This is also a time to slow down in general and to drive carefully. May 2 to 5 are positive days. Mercury in Aries goes direct on May 4. In general this is likely to be a time of increased understanding, enthusiasm, inspiration and a positive outlook.

May 6-7 could find us considering what we learned while Venus was retrograde and could bring a renewed appreciation for our beliefs and values. May 8-9 highlights the need to work with others, especially those who are on the opposite side. Discussions could be fruitful if we take a responsible and mature approach. The FULL MOON at 20° Scorpio occurs on May 10 at 3:42 pm, MDT. This Full Moon will present us with a chance to reach resolutions on some long standing problems during the period of May 10 to 13. This can be a time of real progress as long as we keep actions open and above board and strive for the highest and best for all.

Mothers Day is May 14. With the Moon in Capricorn and Mercury, Venus and Uranus in Aries, we will not only honor and recognize our mothers for their caring and nurturing qualities, but also for their courage, hard work, leadership and organizing abilities. Hooray for moms everywhere!

May 15 to 31

The week of May 15-21 may be centered on blending the best of old with best of the new. The trine from Saturn in Sagittarius to Uranus in Aries will be exact on May 18. Now is a time when each of us can make some progress in our personal life updates. Do something, even if it is small, to improve your life. We are also likely to see this energy reflected in national and world events.

May 22 is a day of action and getting things moving. May 23-24 are good days to stabilize and attend to practical matters. The NEW MOON/SuperMoon at 5° Gemini occurs on May 25 at 1:44 pm, MDT. This New Moon presents us with some challenges. How to balance three things: practicality, justice and compassion. Emotions are likely to be very intense. May 26 could provide us with some answers. May 27 to 31 have mostly positive energies, except for some kind of stalemate on May 28. This should be resolved by the evening of May 29. The energies are lively, fun loving and invigorating on May 30. May 31 will be a good day to get organized and practical matters will work out well.

Thanks for reading, much love and

Happy Spring to All You Beautiful Spirits!

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.

 DECEMBER 2016 and JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2017 FORECASTdreamstime_m_21897665

World Outlook

No one will be surprised to learn that the astrological energies for the year ahead indicate there will be a strong push for change and improvement in the way things are structured. The challenge will be to agree on what needs to be changed and improved and how to go about doing so. No easy task with so much polarization the world.

The major astrological patterns from December 2016 through February 2017 will continue to develop through 2017. These patterns are much more dynamic than the heavy and depressing energy of 2016. Some of these new energies are challenging and disruptive, while others are positive and productive. And they often occur simultaneously, making this a very complex time. Things will unfold as the year goes by.

Although major differences of opinion will certainly continue, progress can be made by being open-minded, listening and respecting divergent viewpoints and then finding common ground for the foundation of new plans. As far away from reality as that might sound at the moment, there will be opportunities to do just that. It won’t magically fall into place and happen overnight, but it can develop as the year proceeds. This is not the time to be naive or to take anything for granted, but there is reason to believe that from this turmoil, we can breakthrough to a higher level. We do have a choice. How we choose to handle these energies is up to us, both on a collective and an individual level.

Listed below are both the positive and the challenging energies over the year ahead.

Positive Energies:

  • Success comes through cooperation and working with others towards a common goal. We can combine our desire for expansion and improvement with organization and practicality. Jupiter in Libra sextile Saturn Sagittarius
  • Updating our methods by blending the best of the old with the best of the new will pay off. Patience and discipline along with the courage to try something new and different could yield surprisingly good results. Saturn in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries
  • Big projects that focus on reforming, restructuring and rebuilding can be successful as long as they are done for the benefit of all. Jupiter in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn
  • Exciting discoveries, breakthroughs and innovations can extend our horizons. Social activism can stimulate growth and awakening in human consciousness. A turning point is reached in social awareness. Jupiter opposite Uranus
  • New technologies and scientific discoveries will set us on a course of action based on a new vision of the future. Uranus in Aries semisquare Neptune in Pisces

 Challenging Energies:

  • A last ditch push may occur to achieve goals through coercion, intimidation, geo-political maneuvering and misinformation. Efforts, both overt and covert, to attain power and influence resulting in power struggles can occur. Jupiter in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn. These activities may be connected to conditions that started in 2010. See NOTE below.
  • Sudden and surprising developments can cause a major movement with the goal of gaining freedom from domination. A turning point will be reached and even a possible rebellion against the status quo. This could lead to disruption and agitation. Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries These activities may be connected to conditions that started in 2010. See NOTE below.
  • We will be forced to seriously address the challenges of technology globally and how it is impacting the privacy and safety of countries and individuals. Problems could occur involving hacking, global connections, social media, online information, power grids, government, banking and other electronic systems. We must also face the potential harm of spending so much of our time and attention on our technology devices that we don’t know what is real “news” and what is unimportant information. We must also face why we are so obsessed with “Reality Shows” which actually keep us from facing reality. (Uranus semisquare Neptune)
  • Watch for that raise red flags: (A) Things sound either too good to be true or too awful to be true; (B) overbearing, hot headed or destabilizing behaviors; (C) Nebulous information, ideas or actions designed to cast doubt on existing norms and structures.

NOTE: The embers of the fiery radical restructuring energies of Uranus square Pluto that were so strong from 2010 through 2015 could now be fanned back to life by Jupiter in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn and opposite Uranus in Aries. Click here for more information

How you can use these energies in your personal life:

  • You can start right now to improve your life. If you know you would like to make some improvements, but don’t know what to do next, here are some ideas:
  • First, identify where in your life you are feeling hemmed in, trapped or resentful. Is there something in your life that takes up your time and energy and leaves you feeling tired and drained? Are you really being yourself or just what you think you are supposed to be? Don’t make excuses or gloss over your feelings.
  • Next, do whatever works for you to help you clarify and get to the heart of what’s really causing you to feel this way. Make a list of what you like and what you don’t like about your situation. The main thing is to be totally honest. Do a pro’s and con’s list. List what you want and why you think you can’t have it or what has been holding you back. Then challenge those assumptions. Try a flow of consciousness writing. Sometimes just writing things out will clarify what is really bothering you and what the possible solutions are. Meditate, walk in nature or soak in the tub for hours. Talk to a good friend. Talk to yourself. Talk to your dog. Possibly to your cat ….. on second thought, disregard the cat suggestion.
  • Give yourself time to let the changes unfold. You may have sudden insights and jumps forward. You don’t have to rush. Although it can be helpful to stand back and view the “Big Picture”, life is lived in the present moment. Be in it. Have faith that what you need to know will be revealed to you when you need it.

Before we move on, there is something else to consider…….

Uncharted Territory

In addition to the planetary influences above, many astrologers are also observing the planetary patterns involving objects beyond Pluto located in the Kuiper Belt. The first Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) was discovered in 1992. This was very interesting, but most astrologers didn’t really start paying much attention to these objects until 2005, when a KBO first spotted in 2003 was confirmed and was thought to be bigger than Pluto. That got everybody’s attention. This KBO was called 2003UB 313 and then nicknamed Xena (the television Warrior Princess). In 2006, it was officially given the name of Eris, the Greek goddess of strife, discord and chaos.

Living up to her name, Eris promptly caused great turmoil when, rather than add Eris as a new planet, Pluto was demoted to the new classification of “dwarf planet”. Dwarf planet designations were also given to Eris, two other KBO’s, and to Ceres (an asteroid located between Mars and Jupiter).

Whether you call it a planet or a dwarf planet, most astrologers will attest to Pluto’s intense astrological influence in our lives. Why wouldn’t Eris, who turned out to be almost as large as Pluto, be powerful, too? When a planet, a dwarf planet (or really anything new), is discovered in space, our consciousness has been expanded also. We now “see” something that had been hidden from us. We are opened to a deeper level of knowing. However, we may not be very good at handling all this new found energy and knowledge at first. We may not understand what is happening because it is something “more”. It is different, unfamiliar and not “normal”.

We can think of Pluto as the Gatekeeper to a mysterious and deeper region of our consciousness. As we discover objects beyond Pluto, we are opening our consciousness to ever deepening levels. We need to observe Eris and the other dwarf planets for many, many years and do historical research before we can draw conclusions.

As far as research goes, we’re in luck because a planetary pattern is occurring right now that is providing us with lots of material. Uranus is currently conjuncting Eris, which is an extremely important configuration and gives us something major to look at right away. Allowing a ten degree orb of influence, the conjunction started around April 2014 and will last until March 2020. This conjunction is at its peak in 2016 and 2017. It was exact in June and September of 2016 and will be exact again in March of 2017.

The conjunction of Uranus and Eris tells us that the energies of Uranus, planet of change, rebellion, shake-ups and shock, are combing with Eris, associated with discord, strife and feminine warrior energies. They will be expressed in an Aries fashion – assertively, dynamically and with lots of fire and passion. The blending of these energies could indicate upsets, anger, strife, shocks and shaking us up in ways we haven’t experienced before. Hmmm, sound familiar? Not only did the US election turn things upside down and sideways, but Brexit (June 2016) could also have a similar effect in Europe in 2017. Not to mention all the turmoil seemingly everywhere in the world. Although it is not pleasant, it is also very important to remember that shake-ups often lead to wake-ups.

The feminine warrior energy is out there, too. How will it manifest? We will see. Most importantly, we need to avoid jumping to conclusions. There is going to be much more to Eris than we comprehend at this point. Pluto is associated with death, destruction and endings. Something we normally like to avoid. Yet, by bringing those forces into our consciousness, we are able to see what was hidden within us. This allows toxins to be released and healing to occur. We also might find some buried treasure that had been hidden away. Pluto brings us transformation, transmutation, releasing and cleansing. It takes courage to face these unknown parts of ourselves, but doing so brings much greater depth and meaning to life. Eris will also have deep and valuable insights to offer us than just the initial discord and strife. What that is and how long it will take to be revealed is unknown. But we’ve seen it now and are on that journey of discovery, ready or not.

We can’t say for certain what Uranus conjunct Eris means, but it certainly describes something “more”, different and unfamiliar. What lies ahead remains to be seen. We could be in for more big surprises. We are, indeed, in uncharted territory.

Okay – back to the forecast…..

November 29 to December 31, 2016

November 29: NEW MOON IN PISCES, 5:18 am MST. Plans and intentions are hatching behind the scenes November 29-30. This New Moon squares Neptune and the Nodes of the Moon which indicates murky or confusing conditions. We really need to think about what we are planning to put into motion now because our actions could have karmic consequences in the world and in our personal lives. Strive to focus on the highest and best good for all. If you are not sure about something or have a feeling of unease, wait a few days to make any important decisions. It is very likely that things are not what they seem at this time.

December 1-11: There are many positive astrological energies as the month begins. It will be an active and energetic time. Mars in the friendly and humanitarian sign of Aquarius will make positive aspects with Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus from December 1- 7. This indicates a time when people can work together for the common good and enjoy each others company while they are doing it. The Sun in Sagittarius will also form positive aspects with Jupiter in Libra and conjunct Saturn on December 8-10. The Sun then trines Uranus on December 11-12. The potential to come up with thoughtful and practical plans to improve our lives will be strong. Pay attention to ideas that may pop in your head about how to update your personal life. Be open to looking at things in a whole new way. Write your thoughts down and keep them for reference. You may be amazed later this year how helpful these ideas will be.

December 12-16: We should be getting an idea where things are headed in the coming months. Pay attention to developments as we approach the December 13: FULL MOON/ SuperMoon in GEMINI, 5:05 pm, MST. Something may be revealed now that was hidden around the New Moon on November 29. However, we still may not have the full story.

December 17: A good day to do something fun, creative or entertaining.

December 18-20: Mercury goes retrograde on December 19 in the sign of Capricorn (see below) just as it is about to conjunct Pluto. Will there be information that is close to being revealed at this time that goes (or is forced) underground? We will probably have to wait until January 28-30 before we hear the whole story.

December 19, 2016 to January 8, 2017: Mercury will be retrograde in Capricorn. This Mercury retrograde period can help us get our lives organized. It is time to focus on practical matters and getting things in proper order. We can make progress on eliminating whatever is standing in the way of our goals in life. Mercury will also be sextile Neptune in Pisces three times during its process of moving backward and forward. This will blend the imagination, spirituality and intuition of Neptune and Pisces with the down-to-earth and realistic energy of Capricorn. As always during Mercury retrograde periods, be aware that people in general could have a tendency to be mentally distracted, which can lead to overlooking details and could result in communication or transportation problems. Unexpected mechanical or technological problems may occur. Double check all travel arrangements and make sure communications are clear to everyone concerned. This is especially true if you are a Virgo or a Gemini. See explanation of Mercury Retrograde

December 21: The WINTER SOLSTICE occurs at 3:45 am, MST, as the Sun enters Capricorn. Take some time to contemplate the arrival of winter and the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Let your Inner Light shine in the darkness.

December 22-30: This is likely to be a whirlwind of energies, both positive and challenging. Great potential, but hard to predict how it will manifest in mass consciousness. Individually, we can each choose to embrace the positive and focus on the exciting ideas and options for the future. Uranus will seem to stand still and be locked in a challenging opposition with Jupiter in Libra and at the same time be in a harmonious trine with Saturn in Sagittarius. You can see the potential manifestation of these energies in the descriptions which were discussed earlier and are repeated below:

Saturn in Sagittarius Trine Uranus in Aries: Positive: Updating our methods by blending the best of the old with the best of the new will pay off. Patience and discipline along with the courage to try something new and different could yield surprisingly good results.

Jupiter in Libra Opposite Uranus in Aries: Positive: Exciting discoveries, breakthroughs and innovations can extend our horizons. Social activism can stimulate growth and awakening in human consciousness. A turning point is reached in social awareness. Challenging: Sudden and surprising developments can cause a major movement to gain freedom from domination. A turning point and a possible rebellion against the status quo that could lead to disruption, rebellion and agitation.

December 28: NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN, 11:53 pm, MST (December 29 at 1:53 am, EST). Focus on practicality, organization, and planning. This new moon is conjunct Mercury retrograde in Capricorn indicating it is time to start getting down to business and finally clear out things that are not essential. Think carefully about what seeds you are planting in your life right now because they are likely to have dynamic results at the Full Moon on January 12. The energies of change and surprise will be very intense, as Uranus turns Direct on December 29. The energies of change, shake-up and wake-up start marching forward.

December 30-31: As the year draws to a close, there will probably be a huge traveling sigh of relief heard round the world as we leave tumultuous 2016 and turn our attention to 2017 and the changes in the world we know are ahead. There is likely to be a general feeling of both uncertainty and hope.

January and February 2017

January 1-4: A New Year dawns and even though we may be holding our breath with fingers crossed, the mood should be fairly optimistic on January 1, 2017. The first four days present some challenges regarding technology and communications. To help avoid problems, make sure communications are clearly understood by everyone, don’t take anything for granted and keep your schedule flexible. Information may be misleading. Don’t believe everything you hear.

January 5-13: A strong urge to get things done could propel us to work hard at organizing, planning and getting our ducks in a row. Power struggles could ensue out in the world during this time period. Mercury goes Direct on January 8, which means January 6-10 could be prone to mix-ups or confusion.

January 10-13: The FULL MOON in Cancer occurs on January 12, 4:34 am, MST. This is a very powerful Full Moon and will be felt from at least January 10 to 13. Whatever was put into motion at the New Moon on December 28/29, 2016 will now be in full bloom. The outer world could experience conflict over who gets to be “the boss”. This Full Moon will stimulate the energies of change and surprise indicated by Jupiter opposite Uranus (see above under December 29) and Jupiter square Pluto, which indicates a lot of jockeying for position, control and power. In addition, it will also strongly activate Eris, which could add some wildcard energy to the mix. During this period, we all will get a glimpse of how the main planetary patterns in 2017 may manifest over the year ahead. At this point we can observe the energies, but not the final outcome. As individuals, this could help us get things moving in our personal lives, or at least, provide some important realizations. Many will find this to be a dynamic time in their lives.

Those with the following birthdates could feel this Full Moon very strongly. January 10-13 may be a time of major decisions/realizations or activity in your life:

Aries – April 6-14; Cancer – July 8-16; Libra – Oct 9-17; Capricorn – Jan 7-15. Planets, the Ascendant or Midheaven at 16-24 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will also be stimulated.

January 13-15: Take the weekend off. On Friday night and Saturday the Moon in optimistic and fun-loving Leo lifts our spirits. This should be a good time for being with others, entertainment and creativity. Sunday is likely to have a reflective, compassionate and spiritual quality as the Moon in Virgo conjuncts the North Node and opposes Neptune and Venus in Pisces. We may find ourselves contemplating how we can be of service in the world.

January 16-19: This looks like it will be somewhat of a contentious time when we find our actions or desires are blocked or progress is frustratingly slow. Be patient and don’t try to “make” something happen. This too shall pass.

January 20: The presidential inauguration in the US occurs at noon. The Inauguration chart indicates there will be many challenges for the US over the next four years, particularly relating to the economy and relationships with foreign countries. There will also be opportunities to work together within our own country and with other countries to make positive and innovative changes at home and in the world. See the positive energies and the challenging energies at the beginning of this newsletter for more information.

January 21-23: Positive energies over this period help us have a determined, yet compassionate and philosophical outlook.

January 24-26: The morning of January 24 could be challenging or hectic, but by afternoon and for the next two days, the energies will spur us on to work on accomplishing our goals.

January 27- February 2: The NEW MOON in AQUARIUS occurs on January 27 at 5:07 pm, MDT. This New Moon seems to have some sadness or disappointment associated with it. Something that had been hidden could be revealed around January 28-29 that causes upsets over the following four days. In general, the period from January 27 to February 2 not a good time to start something new or to make important decisions. The energies will be too unstable. However, information or inner realizations on January 30 could prove to be enlightening.

February 3-7: We could be feel stimulated by exciting new ideas and insights which may cause us to reconsider our plans and goals.

February 8-13: Challenges could keep us on our toes on February 8, but otherwise the energy over this six day period will be optimistic, friendly, progressive and future oriented. A FULL MOON/LUNAR ECLIPSE in LEO occurs on February 10 and will be followed by a solar eclipse at the new Moon later this month on February 26. These eclipses indicate February will be a month when a shift in circumstances and a change in direction begin that will develop over the next three to six months. Even though things may appear to be hunky-dory at the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on February 10, there may be something important under wraps and hidden from view. Pay attention to your dreams and intuition on February 9-11. You could have some valuable insights and realizations.

February 14-28: The energies will begin to shift and pick up speed the afternoon of February 14-15. We could receive some interesting and exciting information on February 16-23 that gets our attention. There is also a strong energy of aggression or anger that could surface on February 20-28. We are very likely to see this energy erupt in events in the outer world. It is much less likely to affect us personally, but don’t take any unnecessary chances with your safety. Avoid dicey situations, people and locations. Listen to your intuition. A NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs on February 26 in Pisces at 7:58 am, MST, just as Mars in Aries conjuncts Uranus and Eris in Aries, and opposes Jupiter in Libra. Something big is brewing.
